Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.

The wiring diagram doesn't have a purple wire connecting to the motor, it has one coming from the timer to the water temperature selector switch. Where exactly is this wire connected to and what are you calling the "control box"?

Customer replied 549 days and 12 hours ago.

this control box is really just a junction box mounted on the top of the motor that measures approx. 1.5 " x 2" it has 8 wires running to it one of which is purple. the other end of the purple wire goes directly into the windings of the motor. i am not positive i have everything in its proper position. this purple wire has a tab on the end that goes into the junction box it also has a contact point on that metal tab. the washer filled up with water and stopped all operations. the motor did not get hot and i can't believe it is burned up. maybe i have a faulty switch that is activated when you close the lid.

so far all that has happened is you have taken my $30.00 and told me i do not have a purple wire connected to the motor--i do have a purple wire coming directly from the windings on the motor and it goes into the junction box described above. i need to verify the position of that purple wire in the junction box on the top of the motor

Relist: Inaccurate answer.
i do have a purple wire coming out of the windings of the motor and the other end has a metal tab with contact point on it and this wire goes to the junction box on top of the motor

the motor you insatlled was part number 12002353, correct? on the attathced wiring diagram for this machine, they don't show a purple wire to the motor. but yes, it is possible to have one there already. certainly if it is coming from the windings.

and if there certainly is a purple wire coming from the windings and it is supposed to go back to the motor terminal, then somewhere next to each terminal should be either a color coded chart showing where it should go. most motors these day have a chart right next to the terminal for this very reason. if they don't have a colored circle or chart, they might have the first few letters of the color that is supposed to go there. for example a brown wire would be shown BR.

you can look at the diagram below to verify. hope it helps.
