Customer Question

We have an Emerson MW8991SB microwave oven. The inside bulb just burned out. How do we replace the bulb? Thanks.

Just looked to see how to get the panel off, but did not see a way to remove it.

Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.

You replace the light bulb you actually need to unplug the microwave off and then remove all the screws coming in from the back of the microwave holding on the outer shell or "wrapper" as they call it. I think there is also a screws coming in from the left and right side of the shell and possibly some coming from the bottom of the microwave. Once you have all the screws remove the entire black outer shell will pull straight back, up, and off. Now you can access the light bulb behind the control panel area.

They made this so difficult because so many people tried to replace the light bulb without unplugging the microwave which resulted in a shorted control board. This forces you to unplug the microwave to replace the light bulb.

I'm on my way to work. I'll have to try this tonight. If all goes well I'll accept the answer. Thanks for the help.
