We have one of the notorious Calypso washers and have had many

This answer was rated:

We have one of the notorious Calypso washers and have had many instances of LD errors - always because things get by the gasket in the tub and end up getting stuck in the pump. I have replaced the original pump with the newer model so I know it's working. Today for the first time got the SL code but can't be a 'suds lock' since there is no detergent in the machine. Before I take it apart - for about the 10th time - what else should I be looking for? Is there a sensor that might have failed. The error code comes up at the start of the spin cycle and there was only a small load in the washer and was not off balance.

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

Check the pressure sensor hose make sure its not clogged

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

if no joy replace the controller

Customer:

Where is the pressure sensor hose located? (actually, if no joy, this machine is going out)

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

the pressure sensor itself is part of the controller board

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

but there is an clear air tube that goes to the tub

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

and if that is clogged the pressure wont register

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

and it will think there is suds

Customer:

so I assume the hose will go to the board. Will check this.

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

yes

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

also if you get it going use a laundy bag for small garments

Customer:

I'll get right back to you. I removed the back panel on the control panel and located the tube. Pulled it off and blew into it to be sure it was clear. (heard bubbling). What should I do next to test?

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

see if there is any change in the error

Customer:

Not sure how I determine that without running the machine again.

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

yes you will have to run it

Customer:

This will take about 20 minutes. I'll just run a rinse and spin.

AnthonysTV&Appliance :

put the tube back on

Customer:

Don't worry, I did that first. Ran the cycle with the machine empty.... and it worked! Thanks. Now I know yet another quirk of this machine - soon to be replaced but not quite yet.
