You have one of two possible problems. Either the radiant flame sensor has failed or the gas valve coils have failed.
What I need to know is if the flame starts and then goes out in a few seconds then relights only to repeat the process, or if the flame starts, runs for a minuet or so, goes out and then does not relight.
I am a single mom, how do I check this

At the lower back of the unit is a small access panel that you can remove to observe the burner assembly. Remove the panel and watch what the unit does when you run a cycle. You should see the igniter glowing red hot and then the flame will start. If you do not see the igniter glowing then that will be the problem. If you see the igniter glowing and the flame start let me know if it goes out in a few seaconds, and then restarts soon after that.

Ok you have bad coils in the gas valve then. The repair will require that you remove the drum from the unit but actually isnt that difficult. I have a service manual that will show you how to do the repair. The parts should be available locally from your local appliance parts retailers, or Sears.Please stand by for the manual download link.
