I have a 10 year old Maytag MDG8057BWQ dryer. It will heat

Customer Question

I have a 10 year old Maytag MDG8057BWQ dryer.
It will heat up for about 5 minutes and then it will stop producing heat.
At this point, the timer will not move from its current position.
The drum will continue to spin and room temperature will continue to blow.
I checked for lint build up, which there was none.
I also ran the dryer without the exhaust hose on and the heat still kicked off.
Any ideas?

Where is the gas valve located?

Expert:  Appliance Tech Larry replied 5 years ago.
open the door, remove the screws that runs though the hinges into the cabinet and the the ones straight across on other side, pop front loose at the top and set off and the gas valve is just inside and the coils are held by two screws and they look like this ..

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Yes, it does it in all modes.

The flame kicks on for a couple of minutes in the beginning and then shuts off.

It will not try to heat again unless I wait a bit and re-try.

It then kicks off again after a couple minutes.

Expert:  Chas replied 5 years ago.
So shutting it down and trying maybe 5 minutes later it will start to heat again?

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Yes, but 2 minutes later the flame kicks off
