If it won't release, then your filter recepticle has failed so try pushing harder because the alternative is to replace the entire filter enclosure and the filter itself. If you happen to need the filter enclosure, below is a link to the part.

the button is the part you'd need to push in harder. Before you try to force anything, turn the water off to the refrigerator in case something happens to the filter or the filter housing.
