So the icemaker doesn't cycle at all? The fingers don't turn? Do you know how to cycle the icemaker by jumping it out?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
if you jump it it will cycle
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

so the ice maker cycles but no water?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
ice maker gets water and makes cubes but will not harrvesst
Expert:  Bryan replied 6 years ago.
ok , the one thing that can cause this is if you're freezer is not between 0 and 8° because the icemaker has a thermostat in that senses the temperature in will not cycle by itself in less the temp is in between those degrees, it will still freeze the ice if you cycle it yourself and get water into it but it will not cycle by itself without the temperature being correct, have you checked the temperature of the freezer it absolutely has to be below 8°, you will need to get a thermostat to check that, if the freezer is in that temperature range then the thermostat in the icemaker is bad and I'm not sure you can buy that separately,

the temp was -6

ok its the ice maker itself, or at least the thermostat, surprisingly enough I did find thermostat for you, it's part number 27 on this diagram, this is what tells the icemaker it is cold enough to cycle, if it doesn't sense the temperature correctly it will not tell the icemaker to cycle because it will think the ice is not frozen in the icemaker in it doesn't want to put more water in to where will overflow, it's kind of the safety, you can order this at Sears at the following link, http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/Whirlpool-Part s/Refrigerator-Parts/627985/0046/106/Model-GD5YHAXNL04/1198/0165000?keySuffixId=NA&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=GD5YHAXNL04&subCompDesc=Icemaker%20parts,%20optional%20parts%20(not%20included)&brandDesc=WHIRLPOOL&modelDesc=SIDE-BY-SIDE-REFRIGERATOR&blt=11 thanks, Bryan
