One of the burners on my Thermador cooktop will not ignite.

Customer Question

One of the burners on my Thermador cooktop will not ignite. The igniter is sparking, but there doesn't seem to be any gas flowing to that burner. All others are working properly. Any suggestions?

Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.

Is this burner that is acting up one of the left 2 burners by any chance?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
No. There are 3 burners in the rear and two in the front. The bad one is the front-right burner. It's also the burner that I use most.

Can you light it with a match? And do you have a model number? If you don't have a model number, is this one of your 2 extra low simmer burners?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

It will not light with a match - the gas flow seems to be the problem. The cooktop has two extra-low simmer burners, and the malfunctioning burner is one of them.

ok, so that's what I thought. You'll need a new simmer kit which comes with 2 potentiometers and a simmer control. You'll need a correct model number to look the part up and the part costs about $200 normally. It will involve you taking the top of the cooktop off so you can access the parts.
