Customer Question

I have a Maytag dryer that is approx. 15 years old. It is a front loading dryer similar in appearance to the MEDC400 centennial models. It is making a sound like the drum is loose. After unplugging it, how do I take to back (which includes the side panels) off so I can inspect it?

Do you need more information?

The Home Smithy :

These units can not be accessed from the back. What you need to do is use a putty knife and insert it about 1-1/2" in from the sides between the top and bottom of the front of the unit. Press towards the back and lift up on the top. Do this on both sides to release the top of the unit. Raise it up and lean it against the wall. There are two screws, one on either side just inside of the unit that you remove to take off the front. Once the front is off the drum can be removed.
Be sure to note how the dryer belt is routed beforew you take the drum out.
Once the drum is out you can change out the drums support rollers at the back of the dryer. These are the most likely cause of your problem.
