Whirlpool Duet Washer Stopped Cycling.

Customer Question

Whirlpool Duet washer stopped working. The control lock/unlock button won't stay off. I have unplugged the machine, unlatched the door and emptied the clothes (they are dry because the cycle never began). There is power to the machine, the water is on, the valves are open and the drain hose on the outside of the machine is empty.

Please help.

Are you able to unlock the unit by pushing the end of cycle signal button and holding it for 5 full seconds?

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

This machine does not have a button that says end of cycle.

Really? Do you have the model number on your unit?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Yes it's - WFW9200SQA12. The machine won't do anything other than the lock/unlock light turning on. If I unplug the machine, the light goes off but then it just comes on again.

I pulled the manual on your unit. So you have tried holding the lock/unlock button for 3 seconds and it did not work. Is that right?

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Yes, it did not work. It just stays on.

Expert:  Robert replied 5 years ago.

Okay. The tech manual says that the control board on the unit has a short and the board is locking to protect itself. I am looking for a breakdown and part number for you.

Okay, but how do I learn how to install this part?

Expert:  Robert replied 5 years ago.

It is not hard. It snaps into place and you remove each wire and plug it into the new board so there is no confusion. You will have to remove the top panel to get to it. The top panel has 3 screws in the back of it that you take out. It then slides backwards and lifts off. This will give you access to the whole interior.

The part number you need is: W10179012

It is number 14 in the picture below:
