hello, welcome to just answer. my name is XXXXX XXXXX and i will be happy to assist you with your problem. no there is no reset. Did you reset the breaker? You first want to turn the breaker off and then back on.
again i have power to the dryer terminals
have you checked it with a volt meter? it is possible to only have 120 and not 240
ok will give a quick check
you should have 220-240 across the outside two terminals.
have 120 across two right ones but only 24 across two outside
then you do not have the proper power.
you should have 120 from the center to each outside terminal
then 240 across the outside two
i now have 120 from center to each outside term but dont have 220 across 2 outside
was this also just wired to the breaker box?
no been here for long time i think i need to change the center wire on the dryer to the outside
please do not change anything just yet
lets look at the plug first.
you have a three wire cord correct?
when you are looking at the cord the wires are in the order they go. the center wire of the cord goes to the center terminal.
the outside two go to the outside terminals and do not matter which side just so the center wire is in the center termional
and that is my present setup
thats what i thought.
that is correct
are you sure that your meter is set to read 240?
you say that you are getting 120 from each side to center so that is also correct
yes its didgital
you need to get the 240 across the outside two or the dryer will not start
meter reads up to 750
ok then you need to test the outside two again
if you are not getting that then you need to go and test it ayt the breaker
outside two 120
from center to outside is 120.
from outside to outside, needs to show 240
put one lead on the right and one on the left
i have does not show 220
then you need to find out why. this will not let the dryer run
you need to remove the cover of the breaker box and test across the two terminals of the breaker
you can also do this at the plug
ok so is it posable that the recepticle is wired wrong and need to switch the center wire with the outside
no, if you are getting the 120 from center to both outside terminals then the wires have to be correct but the power is coming from the same leg of the breaker box if you do not get 240.
first remove the cover of the receptacle and test the red to black
the red and black should also be the outside two terminals of the receptacle.
white will be in the center
or just a bare ground depending on what wireing was used in the house
now am taking cover boff
so i switching from a 4 prong to a 3 where is the ground?
you only changed the cord correct?
you do not have a neutral wire on a three prong cord. the center wire is the ground
on a four prong cord you have a ground and a neutral
so do i have to put a strap from terminal ground to the common term?
it makes no difference
ok black and red 200 volts
as facing recetp black on left red on right whit center
well if you have it there and not at the other end of the cord that does not make sense
but you said you did not get 200 at the outside two terminals but you have it at the receptacle then there has to be something wrong with the cord
im starting to think your wires may be ok but something was blown in the dryer when you first hooked it up wrong
ok term tight and did continuity check on each leg there ok i will hook up again
so is there a re3set?
i will be here
no, something had to get shorted. we can look for that once you get this back together and retest at the dryer
while you are doing that please get me the complete model number from inside the dryer door
nw have 220 on two outside legs
but dryer wont turn on
ok give me a min
please double check your model number
does the control buttons all work correctly?
only the light inside the dryer works
remove the rear cover of the control panel
on connector BB1 there is a black wire. check for power from this wire to ground
having trouble locating
there should be three plugs on the board correct?
they are labeled J4, BB1, and BB2
two of these have only 2 wires on them
one loks burnt
one has a red wire and the other has a black. you want to test the black wire
thats what were looking for
that is the main power to the board
if it has power to it then the board shorted when you hooked it up wrong the first time and will need to be replaced. please check for the power first though as we do not want to waste money on the board unless were sure this is the problem
with the door closed check for 120 from black 13 on the BB1 connector to red 34 on the BB2 connector
check power on bb2?
red and white wire i believe bthis is door sensor
i need you to test from black on BB1 to the red on BB2
yes that is the door sensor.
that is really the neutral wire going through the door switch
the black wire comes directly from the power cord
i only got 10 volts
put your red lead on the black wire and the black lead to any ground
that is not possible if the dryer is plugged in, try a better ground
this black wire is tied directly to the outside terminal of the cord
why does this refresh all the time big pain
im not sure what is going on on your end. usually not this much problem
we will work through it
bb2 ooks chard
if you do not have power to this black wire then you need to trace it back to the cord. it has to be burnt somewhere. this would be EXTREMELY RARE. but there is no reason that there is no power there
i think they are good just having troule getting in the3re to test, but bb2 looks really burnt
BB2 does not mean anything if you do not have power on the black wire of BB1
you can flip the entire console to the front
once the rear cover is removed the entire console will lift up and lay on its face
then i would unplug BB1 and test
the black to ground. we need to see this power first
great. now test from the black to the red on BB2 and make sure the door is closed
also from the black to the other wire in the BB2 connector
perfect!!!!!! that tells us that there is power to the board and the door switch is good.
you have a bad board. it was mostlikely blown when it was hooked up wrong
you will need to replace the board. you can order this from www.appliancepartspros.com at this discounted price.
you can also check price at www.appliancezone.com as they are sometimes a little cheaper. these are the two cheapest places to buy from.
ok everything was fine except the constant refreshing
not sure why your getting that. sorry, must be a setting somewhere.
you get that board replaced and you will be back in business.
thanks for the help no if i could find the part for 24 bucks lol
lol, i wish.
there not cheap
ok thaqnks again
your welcome. thank you
