Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.

GE icemakers are a bit different. Try turning the switch off. Wait 60 seconds and turn the switch back on. Push the white paddle in 3 times slowly within 15 seconds. Then wait 2 minutes. You should see the icemaker start to cycle. If it doesn't cycle, replace the icemaker because it's just bad. If it cycles but doesn't fill up with water, check the fill tube behind the icemaker and if it's frozen solid, use a hair dryer and thaw it out. If it's not frozen, you'll need to replace the electronic water valve on the back of the refrigerator where your water supply line from your house connects to your refrigerator itself. Below is a link to the cheapest place I've found the icemaker if you happen to need to order a new one.

is it common after 3 1/2 years for this to stop working ? and why does it seem the quick ice dosent work?
Expert:  Tyler Z. replied 5 years ago.
These GE icemakers just don't seem to last all that long unfortunately. Quick ice won't work if the normal ice maker isn't working. The only different between quick ice and normal ice productions is that more cold air gets blown up to the icemaker to freeze the water quicker causing the icemaker to cycle faster. Sometimes these icemakers will last 10 years, sometimes just a year or two---either way they aren't repairable, they just require replacement when they break since that is the way GE designed them.
