have maytag dryer and the laundry is getting hot but not drying.

S.E.Thomas :

hello, welcome to just answer. my name is XXXXX XXXXX and i will be happy to assist you with your problem. When there is a problem with the heating cycle the timer will not run. The first thing you need to check is the vent. Start the dryer and go to the outside of the house and make sure that you have good air flow.

JACUSTOMER-qnjssqhi- :

ok I will do that.

S.E.Thomas :

After you verify the vent is clear you will want to check the thermal fuse and heating element. This is easier done with a volt/ohm meter. Do you have a volt meter?

JACUSTOMER-qnjssqhi- :

no

S.E.Thomas :

ok check the vent first and we will go from there

JACUSTOMER-qnjssqhi- :

ok

S.E.Thomas :

i will wait to hear from you

JACUSTOMER-qnjssqhi- :

ok. I pulled the dryer out from the wall.. the dryer has long vent tubing and when I turned the dryer on it seemed to blow alot of stuff out. I went outside to check the air flow and it is blowing out very hard now. You think the hose kinking may have been the problem?

S.E.Thomas :

yes. with out the air flow the dryer can not cycle properly due to not being able to cycle the air and heat.

S.E.Thomas :

if the vent was kinked or clogged this will cause your problem.

JACUSTOMER-qnjssqhi- :

should I cut the vent hose down?

S.E.Thomas :

if it is longer than needed yes. you do not want anymore hose than you need.

S.E.Thomas :

this will only cause problems.

S.E.Thomas :

make sure the hose is clean when doing this as well. any restriction is no good.

JACUSTOMER-qnjssqhi- :

Ok. Thanks Mr. thomas. will throw another load in and see what happens.

S.E.Thomas :

your very welcome and thank you. you can always return to this question if you need further assistance.

JACUSTOMER-qnjssqhi- :

have good night.
