The spin cylce on our GE washer has stopped. The agitator still works. Any idea of what might be wrong?

Does the washer stopped agitating when you open the lid?

Yes. I checked that as well.

Okay do you have a voltmeter? You will need to check power going to the motor when it's in the spin cycle, if you get no power you need to check the fuse going down to the motor, it's kind of a fuse it's an in-line fuse and it's in the wiring harness on the right side running down to the motor, it doesn't really look like a fuse this is what it looks like,

What could I expect to pay someone to come out and check this and do the repair that you have described?

An average service call runs around $79.95 plus the labor which I can't be sure what different companies charge for labor, the average cost of this repair if it's just the thermal fuse shouldn't be more than $150.00, if it's the motor itself you're talking a lot more probably in the $250 range, hope this helps, thanks, Bryan
