We were given an HCM045QA Haier chest freezer, 4.3 cubic feet. We put a thermometer in the chest and it continually registers -35 degrees below zero, regardless of how the controls are set.

The control dial does not have any numbers on the surrounding area. At 9 oclock positon there is a "1". At the noon position there is a Roman numeral 11 ----- at the 3 o'clock position - there is a Roman numeral 111. We do not know what to set it at. The freezer is about 7 yrs. old. It seems to run continuallly.

Please help us. Thank you. [email protected]

the best setting is about half way , thats the normal for freezers, if it keeps staying at the temp its at now the cold control may be bad, thanks Bryan

Brian -- The off position is at 5 PM if it were a clock. Do you mean that we should have it around 11 PM for half way????

What is the desirable temperature for a chest freezer of this type?????
usually the temp should be around -10 yes try around the 11 o clock position, this should be fine if the temp control is good, it will run less and save money, thanks Bryan
