I have a maytag MER6872BAW oven, the bottom heating element

Resolved Question:

I have a maytag MER6872BAW oven, the bottom heating element in the bottom oven doesn't heat. Replaced the element with a new one, it still doesn't heat. Is there something else I can check?

S.E.Thomas :

hello, welcome to just answer. my name is XXXXX XXXXX and i will be happy to assist you with your problem. This is most likely a bad board but you want to first check the wires. Do you have a volt meter?

JACUSTOMER-ch3gofiz- :

no

S.E.Thomas :

every thing else works correct?

JACUSTOMER-ch3gofiz- :

yes

JACUSTOMER-ch3gofiz- :

top element works fine as does everything else on the stove

JACUSTOMER-ch3gofiz- :

I did a self clean cycle 2 yesterday and it worked great

JACUSTOMER-ch3gofiz- :

this would be the first time I used the bottom oven since then

S.E.Thomas :

if everything else works the you can slide the unit out and remove the rear covers to inspect the wires. there is one red that goes to where the cord is wired in and the other side has a yellow that goes to the board. if these wires are ok and not burnt or shorted anywhere then you have a bad control board. this is normal for these ovens. if the bottom element blew out then it usually takes the board out as well.

JACUSTOMER-ch3gofiz- :

the wires looked fine when I pluged the new element in

JACUSTOMER-ch3gofiz- :

the connections looked fine. Is there anything I can do about the board short of replacing it?

S.E.Thomas :

the part can be found at www.appliancepartspros.com at a discounted price. the part number is XXXXX

S.E.Thomas :

this number will be crossed over when you enter it at there site.

S.E.Thomas :

When you change this part be sure to change the wires one at a time so you do not cross them.

S.E.Thomas :

Hello, you still there?

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
