I had recently moved into a place that has a gas stove. I am use to electric. It has four round black disks in between the burners, two on each side. Does the stove have to be turned on to light them. Don't know anything about gas stove's. Appreciate any help you can give to me.

ok , those are on the top of the burners , are they in place? when you turn the burner on does it click?
