Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.

Often times it's just ice that drops into the drawer slide causing it to sieze and not slide anymore. You'll need to just unplug your unit for 24 hours and let the freezer thaw out to open the door unfortunately.

It is not ice.

Ball bearings - 3 have come out of the extension rail on the lhs. How do i remove the door and repair the track?
Expert:  Tyler Z. replied 5 years ago.
ok well unfortunatley if the bearing have fallen out you can do nothing but force the door open, either all the way or at least a 6 inches or so so that you can reach in and remove the screws holding on the front freezer door onto the rail support. Once you remove the drawer you can just remove the screws through the rail and replace the rail.

Fridge is 10 years old.
Is the rail a special part that I must get from GE?
Expert:  Tyler Z. replied 5 years ago.
I don't know about a "special order" part, but it is definitely a GE only part. You can probably pick one up at Sears Parts and Service if you have one around the area, otherwise you'd need to order it directly from GE.
