Older model fisher and paykel washing maching (smart Drive

Resolved Question:

Older model fisher and paykel washing maching (smart Drive 9 / 6.5kg) Kept cutting out, turnin off completely when reaching the spin cycle. Would work with nothing in it, a very light load, like 3 tshirts but nothing more. After the last atempt with a normal size wash it cut out agiain and now won't turn on at all. Any Idea what the problem may be, cheers.

Hello, and thank you for using this service. I'll be helping you with your problem today.

The reason the unit cuts out is because something is drawing to much power (usually the drain pump), and causing the control board to reset. If the unit used to run a wash cycle with no clothes in it then that would mean that the drain pump probably isn't the culprit this time because it doesn't care of the tub is full of clothes or not. Unfortunately that means your main motor is pulling too much power and is struggling to spin when you have weight in your tub. The larger problem is that your control board is now shorted which is why the unit doesn't turn on at all anymore. So you'd need to replace both the motor and the control board to fix the problem (there are no fuses if you're wondering). This will cost you over $400-500 just for the parts alone so it sounds like it's time for a new washer.
