Hi! I have a Jenn-Air Gas Downdraft Slide in Range. Several months ago, the oven stopped working. Burners work fine. Any ideas?

is your bake and broil feature not working

Correct, nothing happens when you try to use those features.

could you supply me with the model number please

possibly 8114P927-60

no that's not it you did say it was a gas range correct

Tim Alan :

do you have a volt ohm meter

Yes. I don't see a model number anywhere inside the door. It's a gas range about 3 years old.

Customer :

I do not have a meter.

Tim Alan :

more often than not a no heat in the oven are bad igniters lets check that first

Okay

Tim Alan :

remove the oven racks and the oven bottom cover

Customer :

The cover inside the oven?

Customer :

Or the panel below the door?

Tim Alan :

yes the bottom panel inside the oven

Okay, got it.

Tim Alan :

that model number may be down below behind the lower cover were the blower is

do you see the igniter

Model number was behind the panel under the door - JGS990BDS

Customer :

Will look for igniter

ok thanks

Not sure what I am looking for, might be in over my head here. Looks just like top of the oven, v-shape panel. Could the igniter be in the tube in the center?

Tim Alan :

no its near the rear of the burner has 2 wires going to it

okay, I see a rectangle piece at the back w/2 wires

Tim Alan :

thats it now turn the oven to bake and see if it glows

Customer :

somewhat under that panel

hold on

no, nothing happens.

Tim Alan :

ok

ok is the display working

Customer :

display panel works, shows that it is preheating when I try the bake feature

Tim Alan :

ok is the display working

Customer :

yes

Tim Alan :

ok turn it to broil on hi see what happens the broiler is on top

Customer :

same thing, nothing happens

Customer :

both quit working at the same time

Tim Alan :

ok if both are not working the problem is either the electronic control or the gas valve I had you check both of the igniters to rule those out

Customer :

would it be the gas valve if the burners work fine? is there one for each?

Tim Alan :

sometimes there just weak and they will glow but not open the gas valve if you had a meter we could check some other components but without a meter this is as far as we can go yes there is another valve that controls bake and broil seperate from the cooktop

Customer :

gotcha. how expensive of a repair am I looking at do you think?

Tim Alan :

the power for the igniters goes through the oven control to the igniters and the circuit is completed through the gas valve

Customer :

I see.

Tim Alan :

give me one more minute there may be a limit also

Customer :

okay

Tim Alan :

there is a high limit but if that was bad the control wouldn't function and have no power

Customer :

so you think the valve may be okay?

Tim Alan :

so it should be the valve or the control just remember to hit the accept button and leave a comment thank you

so, no idea what $$ range the repair could run?

Tim Alan :

it's either the valve or control simple test would be a voltage test at the igniters

Tim Alan :

150 in parts 150 in labor
