We have a Whirlpool Cabrio electric dryer with steam that this morning developed a problem of right after you hit the start button the dryer runs for 20 seconds and will not continue. Have reset the circuit breaker with no success.

does this restart right away or do you have to wait a while? do you have a model #?

I think it is a WED6600VU, were can it be found on the unit

 

If you power off the unit and then back on we get the same results.

does the motor sound loud when you push the start? does it buzz loud at first?

so no different sound, ok here is the technical sheets for this, you will need to put this in diagnostic mode to find the issue, click this blue link. http://www.servicematters.com/docs/wiring/Tech%20Sheet%20-%20W10156037A.pdf this will tell you what the issue is, these are usually for techs only but its the only way to isolate the problem, hope this helps, thanks Bryan

We we just waiting for your last answer and and the dryer now it has stated at 46 mins and has been counting down and startting and stoping every 5-10 minutes and we are now at 3 minutes... It only runs for 10 seconds should we wait for the cycle to end before trying diag mode?

ok the thermistor is shorted,

F-25 flashes if the inlet thermistor is shorted.

This fault code will ONLY appear when in the

diagnostic test mode. See TEST #4a, page 6.

How easy is this to replace the part?

you will need to remove the back panel on the dryer to get to the blower assembly, it should be right there. not bad at all according to the diagrams.
