rob clement :

Hi,the glow you see is the ignitor, and is probably bad.You are smelling gas because the ignitor is weak and allowing the gas valve to flutter open and closed. You will need an amp meter to check the ignitor. It should draw somewhere around 3.2 to 3.5 amps.It is a very common problem on any gas stove.

Customer :

Wonderful.. How much does something this that cost to fix. Stove is only 6yrs.

rob clement :

Most of the ignitors will run around $50 to $75. Depending on which one it takes. Are you wanting to do this yourself?

Customer :

no way.

Customer :

The stove isn't leaking gas as long as the oven is off.. right?

rob clement :

You will need to also pay someone labor of course on top of the part.Since I do not know where you are,I will say based on what my company charges in our area it will be around $100 for labor plus the part.Do you smell gas when it is not on?

Customer :

no smell when off.

Customer :

think we will shopping for new stove.

rob clement :

If you need anything else ,please ask

Customer :

Thanks alot. This is a real neat site!!
