Good Morning I have a GE profile Artica side by side model

Resolved Question:

Good Morning
I have a GE profile Artica side by side model # XXXXX purchased in 2007. The ice maker is not working in that it appears to be grinding away at the ice but not sending any out on either crushed or cubes. It sounds like someone is in there beating on the sides with a hammer. I think a service call is needed, what do you think?

is the ice chute door (flap) opening when you push it in?

ok the first thing you need to do if you haven't already is to remove the ice bin all together and clean it out completely. then check the front of the auger assembly(ice bin) and see if its broken in the front, these are plastic and its common that they break, let me know what you find, thanks Bryan

nothing is broken

does it turn freely by hand?

ok, in the back where the auger sits against the back of the freezer there is a fork type thing, leave the bin out and hold the light switch button in and push for ice. is the auger fork turning? is it loose?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
the fork is not turning and it is not loose

ok the motor is bad, or its frozen, you need to remove it and thaw it out if thawing it out doesn't work then you need to replace it, Part(NNN) NNN-NNNN width=you can order one @ this will take care of it, thanks Bryan
