My whirlpool trash compactor door will not open -- it is stuck, Compactor/engine will not run. Any thoughts? Thanks.

yes, no sounds, etc. Pedal will go down a little, but no release or open

ok turn the unit on its back and under it you will see a gear and chain ,you will need to turn that gear/chain by hand to get the ram to go up .

Once the ram is up and you can open the door and give me tha model number
