I have a Frigidaire Crown Series side by side(15 to 20 yrs

Resolved Question:

I have a Frigidaire Crown Series side by side(15 to 20 yrs old) that has quit cooling. The coils were not, are not frozen up and the unit sounds normal ie: compressor and fan inside
seem to be functioning. I turned the water off to the Ice Maker, mopped up the water on
the freezer floor(I spilled it when I removed the Ice catcher)but is has produced a small quanty of water standing again. I cleaned the coils Underneath Approx. 6 months ago and they don't look too bad. I unplugged it for an hour re-set the dial to the coldest temp. mark and plugged it back in another hour later it is still approx. 50 degrees. Any ideas?

ok compressor running ,fan in freezer running ,sounds as if either the compressor is no longer pumping refrigerant.

Or it has a leak in the sealed refrigerant system .

and for this old of a unit .

the compressor is $280.00 dollars if you where to purchase it .if a servicer does the ordering and replacement of the compressor about 600-800

And a sealed system repair for the leak and the compressor would be $300-$400

I don't know how much you want to spend on a unit this age.
