The number 1 reason for poor cleanability is a water or water quality issue.Either there is
not enough water to do the job or the water itself is a problem.
Most dishwashers, with the exception of type like Bosch ,Thermadore or viking to name a
few,all pretty much operate the same way.
At the beginning of the cycle the dishwasher will fill usually around 2 min. Then the wash
cycle will begin. At this point look to see how much water
is in the bottom. If there is an exposed element the water should be up to the
element, otherwise there is not enough water to work properly.
Your most likely cause for an underfill is a faulty or clogged fill valve. If it looks like
there is plenty of water, try pointing all the spray arms forward,
close the door and let it run a few seconds, see if the spray arms are moving,if not there is
either a clog in the water distribution system, the spray arms them
selves or a bad pump and motor assembly. For general cleaning of a dishwasher use 1/2 cup of
white vinegar placed in a cup facing upright on the top rack and run through a normal
cycle.Do this no more often than 3 months apart as you can damage the seals, citric acid is
the best product to use for regular cleaning as it has no harmful effects, just put a teaspoon
in the bottom of the dishwasher and run like normal .Most store bought cleaners that claim to
have citric acid, or to clean your dishwasher only have 5 or
10 % citric acid and do not work well.
