I have a a direct drive Kenmore Washer Model(NNN) NNN-NNNNwhich stops at the spin cycle and won't continue. This happen just yesterday was working fine before then. There was a "burn resistor" smell. When I open the lid and hold down the switch with a pen I hear a humming sound, but the tub won't drain and the timing doesn't seem to advance. The water also stays in the tub..
there are two different possibility, 1 the start capacitor is bad. Part 2859or 2 the motor is bad, Part 769 I would try replacing the capacitor and see if it runs, if not replace the motor, you can get these parts @ http://www.repairclinic.com/Appliance-Parts?s=t-110.9258220-%3d%3de heres a video to help you get to the motor, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XIsK3W_Qcg&feature=related thanks Bryan

I tried the capacitor to no avail, same symptoms. I hate to invest in a motor on this 20yr old model when I can get a new washer for around $400.00. So I guess I'm going to bite the bullet and go for a new one.
ok sorry, sometimes it works others it doesn't, well wishes and thanks, Bryan
