The door on my 10 year-old quiet plus II dishwasher suddenly

Resolved Question:

The door on my 10 year-old "quiet plus II" dishwasher suddenly started dropping like a stone when you open it. Is there a spring or something that should control the opening? It feels like it weighs a ton now.

yes, if you remove the lower kick panel or pull the dishwasher out, there is a spring on both the left and right side of the door that hooks onto the hinge of the door and clips into the frame of the dishwasher. Sometimes they fall off and other times they break and needs to be replaced. Uninstalling the dishwasher and pulling it out is usually the only way to find the spring that fell off or broke.
