Customer Question

So, my fridge is on the fritz. I had a guy out on Friday who looked at it, replaced the relay (for $250), and casually mentioned that I might need to have the coil replaced (for $800). Well, yeah, the fridge still doesn't work. How likely is it that this is actually the problem, or is this guy trying to get me to give one of his friends $800?

no, I would say that the relay was never the issue and that it wither need a new compressor or evaporator, both of which are very expensive. There is a 12 year warranty on these sealed systems however so if it's not at least 12 years old, call Sub zero as it will save you money. $800 is actually not a bad price for a Sub-Zero sealed system repair so it's not that he's really ripping you off, it's just an expensive unit to repair.

Thank you very much! No, the fridge is 17 years old, so no warranty.
