We have a Kenmore Elite HE4t washer that continues to produce

Customer Question

We have a Kenmore Elite HE4t washer that continues to produce a "dead animal" smell. We have used cleaning tablets, run empty cycles with bleach, cleaned the filter behind the front panel and have now taken the drain hose completely out. What are we missing?

have u checked the rubber boot around the door
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Yes, that is something we first discovered when we had a Sears technician out as a sock got caught in it. We keep that clean. We have taken the drain hose (dreaded corregated one) out and thoroughly cleaned it with mold treatment, cleaned the trap in front and replaced the original corregated exterior drain hose with a standard hose.

these boota are really bad about different smells getting the rubber and hard to remove, in the past i have had to replace the boot because of molding and gunky smell

So is your suggestion that the boot be replaced?

there should be no other area for build up except the boot
