Trash Compactor Model GX900QPGB1 After cycle is completed,

Resolved Question:

Trash Compactor Model GX900QPGB1

After cycle is completed, banging noise occurs and will not stop until I press off button.

This means that your limit switch at the top is either broken so it doesn't know when it's reached the top, or your start button is getting stuck on "start" when you turn the knob. If this is the case, usually you can just clean the knob and it will stop sticking. Otherwise replace the limit switch.

There are no knobs on this unit. They are push button switches.

sorry, you are right, and I mean the switch that you are pressing to start your machine, and I see that you have a 3 button switch which is rarely the cause, so I'd assume your limit switch is probably bad.

where is limit switch located and what is part number

Here is a link to the switch again with the price and part number. It's located under the top panel. If you pull the unit out and remove the top access panel you can locate it.
