My top loading washer will not agitate or spin but fills with water and drains.
ok is there water still in the tub? does this drain? let me know thanks Bryan

No water left in the tub after the cycle.
so its just not spinning? unfortunatly this is the motor thats gone bad on it, Part(NNN) NNN-NNNN width=this is a very common problem with these, the inverter on the motor has gone out and you cant replace just that you would have to replace the whole motor, these are $158.00 @ http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-wbsr2140doww-%3d%3dei1475785&PartID=1475785 hope this helps, thanks Bryan

What indicates a motor is back? Can the lid switch cause this?

not if it agitates when you push the lid switch down. we do a lot of these motors and if you do some research on the net you will find lots of unhappy people over this machine, sorry, thanks Bryan

OK thanks. I just manually held the lid switch and it agitated but still no luck with the spinning. I can't even get the inner tub to start spinning during the spin cycle (switch manually closed).

Looks like this is a disposable unit. Not worth fixing.

to be honest these are not good machines, get a whirlpool top load direct drive , the simpler the better, and you will be very happy, thanks Bryan
