Customer Question

I have a 15 year old Hotpoint gas stove. The oven is not getting up to temperature. The cook top still works fine as well as the broiler. Should I put money into repair or just buy a new stove.

Thanks,
John

if you can get me the model # XXXXX will look up the part you need, its the oven igniter, its not keeping the safety valve open, the igniter is weak, most likely it takes this one , Part 1990but if you get me the model I'll make sure for you, thanks Bryan

I am currently at work and do not have the model # XXXXX me. What am I looking at for the repair cost.

Expert:  Bryan replied 7 years ago.
if you replaced this yourself the igniter runs around $69.00 but you can find it cheaper, this is worth repairing, the new ranges are having a lot of problems, if its in good shape fix it, if not try to find as simple an oven as you can, the more complictaed the more trouble, thanks Bryan

Where can I buy the part?

Is it easy to replace?

Expert:  Bryan replied 7 years ago.
it fairly easy to replace but very fragile you have to be carefull with it, its under the bottom plate in the oven, remove the plate and you should see it, it will have 1/4" screws holding it, you can get this @ http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=b3a13i1990&PartID=1990 thanks Bryan
