I have an 8 year old Catalyst washer that is not working properly.

Resolved Question:

I have an 8 year old Catalyst washer that is not working properly. Yesterday it filled with water and stopped and will not respond to any commands. I cannot afford a repair man at this time but am an older unemployed egineer with excellent mechanical skills. Can you suggest what I might try? I purchased a service manual this morning so I have a start.

Many thanks,

The model # XXXXX XXXXX and was purchased 2-1-01. This has not had much use in it's life as ther are only 2 of us and the washer was used for less than 2 years and sat for 4 years untill we bought the house 2 years ago.

If the electric appears to be Ok then the first thing you want to check is the lid switch. Look in your manual and you should find it. The unit won't agitate if the switch or wiring to the switch is bad. So check the switch first and then the wires for loose connections, breaks or corrosion.

God Bless
