We had a power outage Friday night and now my washer stops

Resolved Question:

We had a power outage Friday night and now my washer stops working. You can turn it on and it works for 2 to 10 seconds and then the power on the machine shuts off. It will start up again if you turn the cycle knob but again shuts off.

Are we in agitate or spin? Does it hum and then a click?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
It doesn't matter if you are filling with water, spinning or agitating.

It doesn't matter if you are filling, spinning or agitating. There is no noise the power just goes. The lights go off.

It sounds like the board blew in the outage. Make sure the oulet is not a GFCI. If so try another outlet. Check you owners manual and see if the board has a 5-year warranty on it. If it does you will have to call maytag and have them out to do the warranty. Do no tell them it went out in the power loss. If no warranty use the parts link.
