amana 500 touch range electric, replaced the control panel, now oven wont heat to over 200 degrees??
It sounds like the bake relay isn't connected. Is the bake element glowing bright orange?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
i can get the element to glow when i set the oven to broil, if thats what you mean
I'm talking about the bake element. Does it glow? When you select bake the broil element will cycle on abot 20 percent of the time, so the oven will get warm, but not hot.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

don't know where this is obviously in the oven, does it run along side the broiler element is it on the top or the bottom of the oven?

It would be in the bottom of the oven. What is your model number?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

amana touch 500 model # XXXXX

there isn't an element on the bottom just went and checked

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
correct sir, didn't know that was a cover, took it off and the element is burned in half at one spot. there's the problem. do they just do that with wear or is there a reson why that happened?
It just happens, the insulation wears out and the wire inside and shorts to the outside wall.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
so just pick up a new one an thats that then. is this why also the control board went out as well. i should say did this cause the board to go or vise versa
It can cause the board to go out when the bake element fails because of the high amperage when it shorts to ground.
