Customer Question

Hi. My subzero 650 has ice building up in the refrigerator at the back of the inside of the unit, by a metal pipe.

You probably have a clogged drain. If you look in the back behind the crisper drawers, there is a drain channel with atube leading out the back wall, when this gets clogged the defrost water leaks into the bottom of the fresh food section. I usually use a trombone cleaner to unclog these drains, they're available at a music store for $5 dollars or so. You can also try a turkey baster filled with hot water.

There is so much ice, how do I see where the drain is?

Along the bottom of the back panel, you can see the drain trough, if you remove the drawers.

Thanks. I will give it a try.

Your Welcome. Just don't use anything sharp, you don't want to pierce the drain line, you can take it off the drain trough to get easier access and use a hair dryer to soften the ice.
