my fla dishwasher which is used only 6 months a year, motor hums only,how do I make it work again without calling a service man, the bottom fills with water but doesn"t pump water or empty.

It sounds like the motor has siezed up and needs to be relaced.

The motor is about 150 dollars if you are mechanical you could do it yourself.You can get the motor from your local appliance parts store.They should also be able to supply you with a break down of the unit.
my neighbor told me to put a bucket of boiling water into the dish washer and wait ten minutes, guess what, it freed the motor and is working fine, thanks for your help
