Hello,My Amana gas dryer that I purchased 7 years ago is taking a very long time to dry clothes. Double the normal time. I took off the bottom panel and thoroughly vacuumed out everything below. I took off the vent in the back that leads outside nad thoroughly vacuumed it out. Nothing is clogged, everything is clear. I tested without clothes and it lit right up and became very hot. I let it run about 10 minutes and it continued to be hot. I thought it just needed a good cleaning. Put it all back together and my wife reports that clothes were not dry after normal drying time. Same problem. It must be losing heat when on for an extended time. We are not overloading the dryer and have not had this issue for the past seven years. Any suggestions on what could be causing the issue? Thanks so much! Mike in Fredericksburg, VA
Make: AmanaModel: DLG330RAW Already Tried: Cleaned it out thoroughly. Clear vent to outside.
80% of the time a dryer is taking to long to dry is because the dryer vent is clogged. I know you said you cleaned it but there is a simple test you can do to eliminate the vent. Just run a load with the vent disconnected. If that doesnt fix it I would suspect bad gas holding coils. You will need to sit and with the dryer and make sure the fame comes on every time the igniter glow.
