I have a Whirlpool washer #LSN1000PQ2. It will not go into high spin at end of wash. What is the cause of this?

ok that tells me you have a clutch that it slipping

Yes. If I give it a start with my hand. But it is weak and the spin is not very fast. The cloths are still very wet when it stops.

it will need to be replace ,which means ther gearcase /transmission ,will need to be pulled out in order to get to the clutch assembly

Are these clutch parts external or will this involve taking apart the transmision?

You will need to remove the gearase and it is mounted on shaft of the gear case, here is a manual you can download on direct drive washer that will help you
