Have a GE QUIET POWER 1 dishwasher that makes a grinding noise while running. seems to be related to washer arms or pump suppling washer arms

the pin is the food chopper for the pump, not needed if you clean the solid pieces of food from the dishes. did you see if the cooling fan on the pump was loose, (black body motor)

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
No I have not disassembled any further than taking the lower sprayer apart and cleaning the lime out of the holes. has made similar noise since new, just getting louder and louder.

if you remove the lower panel and look and the motor assm let me know what color the motor is
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
removed lower panel, motor is grey (cast alum) pump body is white
Expert:  MASTER-TECH replied 7 years ago.
if you start the d-washer with the panel removed can you here the noise coming from the pump
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Noise does not appear to be coming from the motor assy, or the pump. Sounds more like it's coming from the inside/related to the arms spinning. It is loud and vibration can be felt on machine and on floor.

if you spin the arms by hand do they bind or make noise
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Negative on the binding /noise making , the middle washer arm is a little wobbly maybe an 1/8 in. up and down. checked screw retaining arm to basket (tight) and it makes the noise when empty or fully loaded
Expert:  MASTER-TECH replied 7 years ago.
is it a slow pulsing vibration
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
vibration sounds similar to driving over rumble strips on the side of the road @ say 30 mph, also can hear the pulsing noise like a normal dishwasher makes
Expert:  MASTER-TECH replied 7 years ago.
if you hang a spoon or a pot handle through the racks to block the wash arms will it still make the noise?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Blocked all 3 arms --no noise , unblocked top , no noise, unblocked middle loud noise, re-blocked middle and ran w/ bottom slight noise. suggestion ???? I would also like to install that pin in it's proper location

what is the model # (found on the frame where the door mates) and do you have hard water

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Model #GHDA470MOOWW Serial # XXXXX yes, rock hard water
Expert:  MASTER-TECH replied 7 years ago.
you will need to make sure the supply tube for the middle spray arm mates with the supply tube in the back of the unit if not there is a retaining clip near the rear of the rack is in place, if that is good take apart the spay arm and look for warn parts, if none replace the hub and the bearing
