I have a whirlpool dishwasher, it is only 1 year old. the latch for the dishwashing detergent will not open during the wash cycle. what do i need to do?

ok if you close the detergent door ,with main dishwasher door open

ok take you bottom rack out of dishwasher and turn it 180 Degrees and then reinstall it.

Then closed detergent door again ,then close main door while pressing handle up (so dishwasher will not run ,)

Slowly turn timer knob again and see if it opens up NOW.

ok so somewhere the rack got turned around by someone.

 

If it is in backwards the detergent door will not open during an operating cycle
