i have a GE Profile ARctica Model #PSS23MSTC Side-by-side fridge. I cannot get any water or ice (cube or crushed) to come out of the door. When I press the lever, the light comes on, but nothing else happens- not even a noise like something trying to happen. I have cleared the path for the ice to come out, checked to make sure the LOCK is off, and held back the lever for 2 minutes for some kind of reset as was suggested in the troubleshooting. Although I did not replace the water filter (that was about 3 months ago), I did remove it and screw back into place. Any other ideas? Thanks!
Make: GEModel: PSS23MSTC Already Tried: cleared ice path turned ice maker on and off held down lever for 2 minutes removed and reattached water filter in fridge checked to make sure unit is not locked
Hello, I am here to assist you. First, you state that the light comes on but nobody is home. When you press on the dispenser and the light comes on is it not as bright as normal?
Yes, I think so. It does come on, but seems rather dim - whether I press the lever or push the light button.
Okay, I don't want to say this is a common problem but the symptoms are all to familiar and is always the same. Unfortunately with the symptoms you have that means that your mother/control board is bad in the circuitry that controls the ice/water. In order to correct the issue you need to replace the motherboard that is located on the back of the unit about 1/3rd the way up on the right side behind a metal cover. The manufacturer part number is XXXXX and will run around $150 if order through Sears or a local appliance parts store. Now there is a site that I use when I need a part right away and you get the part cheaper and it is the same exact part not a generic or knockoff. The site is repairclinic.com and the part is $128. I am going to send you a link to the page for the part from Repair Clinic. You can get the part where ever but replacing the board will cure what ails you.

Thanks Randy! I checked out the site, and it looks like the part comes with installation instructions - i assume this is "relatively" easy to do on my own? If for some reason this doesn't work, is there a way for me to start up the dialog with you again?
Yes, just ask specifically for me. The other experts on honor all request for a specific expert. Make sure you follow the installation instructions carefully. They probably won't apply to your fridge since they are mainly for the freezer on the botton type units. For yours it is a basic disconnect the jacks and plugging them in to the new board. Good luck and I will be waiting to hear from you.

Randy -I was looking on the internet to verify the part and I found another site that carried it as well (and cheaper). I clicked on the image to verify and it looks different than the image on the repairclinic.com website. The part numbers are the same WR55X10942. Am I missing something? Can you please verify? Thanks, karenhttp://midwayparts.net/midwayparts/zen-cart-v1.3.8a-full-fileset-12112007/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=152
Excellent Karen, I should hire you to be my parts expediter. That is the same part. The picture is different only due to that was the old board before it was modified. That is why it says that statement below the picture about the old part 656 versus the new part 952. You are safe in ordering that part with Midway.
Hi Randy!Just wanted to let you know that I got the part and replaced it and now everything is working perfectly again! Thanks for the help. I'll be sure to refer you business!Karen
