My oven says F2 on the electronic board and has started beeping.

My oven says F2 on the electronic board and has started beeping. I can't get it to stop. I have a ge self cleaning oven.

F2 means that your oven sensor is shorted. The oven sensor is attached to your back wall inside your oven. If you open the door and look at the back wall, the sensor looks like a 3-4" thin metal rod held in by 2 screws. You will need to remove and replace this part in order to fix your problems.

Is this situation dangerous in any way? Should I not use the oven? Is this very expensive to replace?

I doubt if the oven will even work with a shorted sensor, but no you shouldn't use your oven until you correct the problem. The part itself costs about $70-80.
