How do I change the region code on a Samsung DVD - V5500

This answer was rated:

How do I change the region code on a Samsung DVD - V5500?
Hi
What code is it set to now and what region do you want it to be set to?

Thanks
Rob
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

Hi Rob,

It is set to Region 2; I'd like it to be either Region 1; or Region 0.

Thank you,

Craig

HI
Before you start, I have to tell you that trying to "hack" any player may render it useless.
This dosent happen often, but it is a risk that you take.

To convert the Samsung DVD-V5500 player to Multi-Region playback make sure you have
no disc or tape in and then Turn it on. When the display shows "no disc"…...

1. Press the DVD button on your remote control so the Samsung DigitALL logo appears on the screen

2. Press the SUBTITLE button on your remote control

3. Using your remote control enter the code: 3 8 7 6 7

4. The current region should be displayed on the screen. (eg "2") If this doesn't happen then turn off
and then on and try again

5. Press the 9 button on your remote control for Region free

6. Press the SUBTITLE Button on your remote.

7. Press the Open button on your player

8. Close Tray.

9. Power the unit off, then power the unit on again

10. Enjoy DVD as it should be, Region Free :-)

Hope this answers your question
Thanks
Rob

It did work; thank you. Player still works too!
Hi thats good

Glad it worked.

Can you click the accept button for me, as this is how I get paid for helping you?
Still looking for other model. Is it same regions?

Thanks
Rob

Yes, same region - and want to change to region 0.

Thanks - I'll hit "accept".

Make sure the player is switched on, and is at the Samsung logo
screen. Also check the tray is shut and that there's no disc in the
player.

Now press the REPEAT button on the remote, followed by a five digit
code. This code is different depending on what region your player is
*currently* set to:

R2 - 38767

If you've done this correctly (and your player is compatible with the
hack), you should see a number at the top left corner of the screen
corresponding to the current region.

Now, pressing any number from 1 to 6 will change to the corresponding
region. Or, press 9 for auto-region mode.

Next, press OPEN/CLOSE to open the tray, followed by Standby (or DVD
POWER) on the remote to close it and put the player into Standby mode.
The next time you turn your player on, the new region will be set.

Hope this works for you

Thanks for the accept, appreciate it

Rob
