Customer Question

I have a 3.5 year old Maytag 25 cuft refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. I believe the model number is XXXXX The temperature in my refrigerator is 62, although the freezer is fine (-6). I seem to recall we had a problem before where something froze over and blocked the flow of cold air into the refrigerator. Is there something easy I can do?

Hi, is the freezer fan running? Do you see frost on the back wall of freezer ?

You have a defrost problem, and need to get rid of the frost. The most likely problem for your unit is the defrost thermostat, located on the evaporator. You will need to remove back panel in the freezer section and replace the thermostat. The thermostat is a round disk with two wires on it, it is on the upper right corner of the evaporator. The part # XXXXX XXXXX

OK. If I turn it off and let it defrost will that work in the short run?
