Customer Question

Hi,

I have a Kenmore model 362. 72621300 gas range. We performed the self-clean option. After it cooled down, we cannot get the oven to work.

When we press the Bake button to set temperature, the display comes back with unlock door. The oven door opens w/o issue.

I have tried unplugging for 5 minutes. as well as, re-doing the self-clean option, after 15 minutes, canceling it, waiting an hour, opening the oven door, and it still sends the same message.

Expert's Answer

Customer

You have an issue with the latch switch . here is a link to the part with part number ,price and where you may order it on-line.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/showPa rt.pd?partNumber=WB24K10010&productGroupId=0022&supplierId=364&brandId=0582&documentId=S0306593&keySuffixId=NA&modelNumber=36272621300&keyId=0281&pageId=00003&productTypeId=0124002&searchModelNumber=36272621300&subCompDesc=Body%20parts&brandDesc=KENMORE&modelDesc=GAS-RANGE&backToLink=Return%20to%20part%20list

this is located right on the latch assy where you lock and unlock the door , it is not telling the control that the door is actually unlocked

Expert's Answer

wow most models have a electric driven latch assembly nowadays.

this is the only manual I was able to find ,And it is not a repair manual.

http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0808490.pdf

but if you raise the cooktop up you should see a cover, remove cover and latch is right there.very easy repair approx 30 min.

Sorry to keep bugging you. The burners have to be disconnected from the cooktop. Is this a mechanical rod solenoid?

Response From Expert

this is a parts breakdown of the model number you have given me .

http://www.sea rspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=36272621300&productCategoryId=0124002&brandId=0582&modelName=GAS-RANGE&diagramPageId=00003&componentDescription=BODY%20PARTS&documentId=S0306593&backToLink=Return%20to%20Sub%20Components%20list

it shows a latch that comes out the front of the oven that moves from left to right is this not correct?

As a FYI:

You had chosen the correct part and manual.

However, it was not the switch that was the problem.

There was loose insulation material that had gotten inbetween the switch and the latch, which made it appear that the latch was still in the locked position.

Just thought I'd add that for any future reference.
