I have a refrigerator that emits a chemical odor. I don't know what chemical but it is similar to acetone. It is on the inside when you open the refrigerator door. There is no odor when you open just the freezer door and no odor when the doors are closed. Any idea what the problem might be?
is the unit still cooling and freezing?how long has it been doing this?may i have the model number please?
This is actually my parents refrigerator.
Yes, it is still cooling and freezing.
They first noticed the smell about 3 days ago. The refrigerator has been moved in and out of the slot in order to paint behind it. I don't know what that might have to do with it. Probably just cooincidence.
All I know is it's a 4 year old Whirlpool.
i believe it may have a slite freon leak ,, this will put out the odor ,, the fridge being less than 5 years old will be under the 5 year sealed system warranty and i would call and set up a call with a warranty service company ,, this will be covered under the warranty ,,
