I have a Jade Refrigerator RJRS4280B that has been problematic over the 5 years I have owned it. It has been serviced numerous times which fixes the problem for a year or two and then something goes belly up. The problem is always with the unit being unable to maintain the temp it is supposed to. First it was both Fridge and Freezer - the compressor was replaced which did not fix it - then the "main board" was replaced this worked! ... for 2 years. Now it is the freezer that hovers between 17 and 25 degrees (can't keep ice cream but some stuff is ok) but the fridge is fine. The technician replaced the main board but to no avail - they suspect the compressor now but we are waiting to hear from Maytag people- who are giving up. Today sadly both sides are climbing in temp. Anyone have thoughts?

I was employed by MAYTAG for many years, I worked on a few of these, From everything that you have stated the compressor is going out on it, or the new one was not installed properly and has lost it's charge for the system, If it is over 5 years old MAYATG is not going to cover the cost of a Sealed System problem for you...You can ask them for a concession for the repair and they may give it to you, however they are not obligated to do this...

Hi Chas, Thank you for your response. Fortunately I purchased and extended plan. Even though the 3rd party technician thinks it is the compressor Maytag feels like it will cost more to fix and trouble shoot it and are saying they are going to give me a new refrigerator. I am not sure if I am better off pushing for the compressor or perhaps a different model since Jade is no longer around. Thanks, Christina
The JADE is nothing than a FANCY Samsung Unit, Been nothing but problems since they were introduced, Take the new unit and run for the hills and don't look back....
