Refrigerator Condenser defrost problem
hi there what seems to b e the problem
I'm pretty handy with basic repairs, so I did some research the other day- and I was convinced that the problem was the thermostat on the interior condenser coil. I replaced that- but the coils are all frozen up again, so I tink that either the timer or maybe somthing on the motherboard are failng to turn on the heaing element.
I don't have ton of cash to throw around right now, so I'm trying to pinpoint and repair the problem myself.
The fridge is a GE Proile with the freezer on the bottom. I've got the coils exposed, and they're packed with ice. The fridge is running fine for about 3 days before it starts to 'lose it's cool'. Then I have to empty it out and defrost it. Let me know what else I can do.
Thanks,
hi there ok these ge refrigerators have a computer board on the outside back of them ,there is a small panel with about 8 screws.99 percent of the time the relays onm the board stay stuck, and certain parts wont work,to fix that problem replace the control board, and your done.if i have helped info wise pressing accept is how i get paid, also do you have ant other questions for me
That's helpful- but just so I know- It doesn't really look like the problem could be something else- the condenser and fans all work fine, and I don't know what other sensors might need replacement besides that thermodisc.
I'm on GE's website and there are 2 motherboards- the one on the back and the inside the fridge for temperature controls.
These are expensive parts, so hopefully I get the right one.
hello yes those inner parts are fine, very very rare that a heater burns or sensor,if you trust my advise sir or maam replace the outter board and your problem is gone.100 percent sure.any other questions

I replaced the outer mother board. The instructions for my bottom-freezer model said to cut the green wire at the capacitor, and the white thermosistor wire. I cut the green wire, but didn't see the white wire instructions at first. I ran the fridge for several days and it did the same thing as before. I just now cut the white wire- hopefully I didn't screw things up. Do you think it will work ok now?
hi ok on the board in the back there is usually 1 harness u wont use.
